Evaluation fees:

Evaluations are between 30 minutes and 2 hours

based on the client request and need.

Minimal Evaluation Fees begin at $250. 

Session fees:

$70 for 30 minute session, one on one.

$140 for 1 hour session

What does a Speech and Language Pathologist Do?

 

Speech and Language Pathologists can Help with:

 

Articulation/Speech clarity difficulties:

  • If it is difficult to understand due to pronunciation issues
  • Speaking is getting frustrating because peers/teachers/family are having difficulty understanding what they are saying.

Stuttering difficulties:

  • If a person  is repeating sounds (e.g. “b-b-b-ball), syllables (e.g. “ta-ta-table”), or blocks/gets stuck on a word and it looks as though no sound/air is coming out.
  • When a person is frustrated and avoiding certain words and situations.

Expressive Language difficulties

  • When a person  has difficulty retelling a grammatically correct story in logical order
  • When a person uses a lot of vague/non-specific vocabulary (e.g. ‘this’, ‘that’, ‘thing’, ‘it)

Receptive Language difficulties

  • When a person has difficulty following simple or complex instructions (multiple steps, If/then, following in order, keeps forgetting, etc.)
  • When a person appears to have weak vocabulary knowledge
  • When a person has poor knowledge of various concepts (e.g. ‘beside’, ‘in front’, ‘some’, ‘all’, ‘empty’, ‘full’, ‘middle’, etc.)
  • When a person has difficulty making predictions, inferencing, and problem solving

Literacy difficulties

  • A person has weak pre- literacy/phonological awareness skills
  • A person has weak sound/letter knowledge
  • A person has poor decoding skills, sounding out words from letters
  • A person has weak sight word knowledge
  • A person  has poor reading comprehension skills. This may include answering Wh- questions after reading a passage, difficulties with summarizing information, difficulties recalling details or re-telling the story sequentially.
  • A person has poor writing skills. For example, they struggle with spelling, writing a sentence/story in a coherent manner.

Executive Functioning Difficulties

  • A difficulty with Sustaining Focused Attention
  • A difficulty with Impulse Control
  • A difficulty with Task Initiation
  • A difficulty with Self-Regulation
  • Executive Functioning is the ability to plan, execute, complete planned tasks. Executive functioning skills include the ability to remember, think critically, plan, tasks in daily life.
